TWEAK
When an object is placed on a mob or in a room, the object is run through code that scrambles, or tweaks, its stats. An item can get better than its "base" stats, or it can get worse. Tweaking does not change any of your current equipment. It does change items you will find in ZONES and on MOBS All equipment should not be the same. Everyone should not wear the same stuff. That's why items tweak. This makes killing mobs much more fun, because you never know what you'll get. Most things will not change much, because it is an exponential scale. Extremely high or low stats are far less likely to appear than stats close to the base. These are called "freak tweaks" by players. You will see a " " to the left of an object in a corpse or on the ground that the code thinks you should take a look at because it's "better" than what you're wearing. This is not always correct! It judges the item against what you're currently wearing or holding in the same slot, but the item might be unwearable by you due to your CLASS or ALIGNMENT anyway. Different stats on equipment are weighted differently, so if your current equipment has more "important" stats, the item might not get an arrow. Meanwhile, having all objects slightly different AND having the chance of finding something incredible on the most common of mobs is great! See Also: DONATE IDENTIFY EXAMINE GET
