With the announcement of wild equipment (ANN 1011), and subsequently a bunch of people showing off the crazy things they got, I decided to go on the hunt myself for some of this strange and potentially awesome gear. It seemed pretty straight forward: kill things, loot things, get momentum, get loot. Multiple people had quickly gotten multiple pieces. How hard could it be? Since reward momentum is a hidden score (HELP WILD) gained by killing, looting, and doing legendary things, I started running eq. There is no way to see your momentum score, but you can track how many equipment points you loot. I thought this would be a decent gauge of what it takes to acquire a single piece of wild eq. Over the course of about two weeks, I did nineteen eq runs, in ten different zones. Some zones I did once, some I did up to four times. I used one character to loot, and accumulated over sixteen thousand equipment points. For good measure I also looted a few thousand eggs and did nearly one hundred million in trade runs. I learned that low man zones, like Asnor, Chepstow, and Den of the Necromancer are the best for farming equipment points (but does that actually matter for momentum?). Each of these zones netted 837-1707 points per run, and the runs are quick. Higher end runs like Elysium and Verigaard regularly net over 1K points, but take significantly longer. For some reason a full load Stornaway is only about 100 points. Then, finally, run twenty, not even for looting, just for a killing blow on the undead corpse of Eldrick, I finally got my first item! a wild warstaff - Lev(31) Loc(wield) 2H LNG 8d7 fragile nolocker wild infmage(4) mana(29) SKL/SPL: Shockwave (proficiency +17%) Cond(pristine - 45 Days) TLDR: Don't ask me how to farm wild eq.
