The Double Scoop

The Double Scoop: Sensational News and Gossip

The Archaeological Find of the Decade

According to a source that has asked to remain anonymous, a new room in Bloodstone has recently been discovered. While the source was unwilling to pinpoint an exact location of the room, they did indicate that the room was only accessible during days 2 and 3. Through some simple deduction, I was able to determine that this likely means the room is in the back part of the zone, but I was unable to find any other clues to confirm the precise location.

My source went on to say that this room, which was previously unknown to any player, seems to be an overall useless discovery for the most part. They also stated that the room description contained several typographical errors, no mobs, and no hidden containers that they could locate.

Still, the discovery of a new room in such an old zone is a rare find, and perhaps the usefulness of the room is simply yet to be discovered. Maybe it will become a hiding place for bankers and CPKers, or a storage cache for treasures yet to be discovered. Possibly it is only the tip of the iceberg in the uncovering of an entirely new area within the temple. I’ll be sure to keep my readers in the loop as I learn more about this and other zone secrets!

Secret Tips for The Hunting Grounds

While running errands in the City of Trellor the other day, I overheard Tiko tell Halabarad that The Mad Archer won’t toss players off the balcony if they have blood, and he suggested that everyone should shockwave each other a few times before going into the fight. During the conversation, Tiko was seen flashing a fresh pair of boots and a bow as proof of this strategy's efficacy.

I couldn’t believe it when Halabarad seemed to agree that the strategy made sense! Halabarad was quoted as saying, “Oh that’s right! The courtyard is anti-blood isn’t it? I knew that already though.”

This journalist is skeptical that such a silly strategy would work, or that anyone would willingly start a brawl in The Hunting Grounds, right before fighting The Mad Archer. Test this out at your own risk!

Ooooh, That Smell!

Many players across Medievia have been talking about the smell coming from the locker room in recent days. Multiple players have submitted public complaints, yet no action has been taken. The smell, which presents itself as a mixture of rotten catacombs eggs and old discarded food, has been growing stronger each day since the last game reset.

A few players have indicated that Scruff may be to blame, however Scruff was able to produce an airtight alibi – that he has been standing in a different room for more than 30 years. Other players are uncertain of who to blame for the noxious odor, but many indicate that they believe either Destin, Xarthrax, or Rawrie may be responsible for the stench.

When asked for comment during an interview, Destin was quoted as saying, “Dude, I have no idea what you’re talking about, and stop telling people that I multiplay.” Xarthrax and Rawrie did not respond to a request for comment.

Other players have indicated they believe either Kjor or Xarlamayne are behind the rotten eggs. However, both have been observed sacrificing smashed eggs on multiple occasions, rather than leaving them on the ground for others to find.

As a frequent visitor to the locker room myself, I hope that the culprit is caught quickly, and that the janitorial team of Medievia can take care of the problem before it gets any worse.

Was Skraythrax right all along?

We’ve all heard his lectures on the chat channel, and most of us have dismissed them as nothing more than conspiracy theories or just hot air. However, it has recently come to light that Skraythrax may have been right about something all along. His indication that the quality of healthcare in Medievia is declining, despite new legislation that raised taxes for the express purpose of making coverage available to all working creatures. We’ve all heard Skraythrax carry on about how shadowy groups are pocketing public funds at the expense of the working class, and I’m starting to believe he could be right!

In a recent conversation with a Drow Sorceress at the Temple of Bloodstone, she mentioned that the declining eyesight of the Drow Warriors is becoming a real issue. Without naming names, she indicated that one warrior in particular wasn’t even able to determine friend from foe anymore, and has stopped attacking intruders altogether. According to a Drow Mage, other Drow Warriors have been unable to obtain important physical therapy coverage after recent injuries, and have been repeatedly tripping and falling into the water before critical fights.

Rumors coming out of Horneg’s Keep indicate the gremlin population has grown out of control due to a viral infection that has caused an exponential increase in birth rates. When asked what he’s doing about it, Horneg pointed out that funding has been cut 3 times for the research and lab testing needed to develop a treatment for this infection. While he sympathizes with the plight of the gremlins, he is having to pay out of pocket for his own healthcare coverage and cannot even afford a working pair of Boots of Levitation anymore.

If Skraythrax was right about this, could he have been right about other things too?! I think we all may need to open our minds up to the possibility that everything is not as it seems. Where has the funding gone and what can the creatures of Medievia do to get the treatment and care that they need? While I know you don’t like to think about it, I urge you to remember that corruption in this fantasy world is real. It’s up to each of us to ask the hard questions, and blow the whistle if we feel that something is not right.

Spotlight: Antons spotted casting Sanctuary?!

This journalist couldn’t believe what he was hearing when Terita mentioned that Antons was seen to actually casting the Sanctuary spell during a recent Crypt of Vatos run. I know that my readers demand to know the truth, so I went undercover to learn more.

After attending twelve different equipment zone runs where Antons was also present, I noted that Antons did not cast the Sanctuary spell a single time before a fight. To put this into perspective, there were 63 total “major” fights across those twelve runs where it was clearly communicated that tanks should cast Sanctuary. In each case, the run leader stated that, “Tanks should sanc” and even called out Antons individually as needing to cast the spell on himself.

However, that’s not even the worst of what I learned during these runs. I noted that Antons became too weak to wield his weapons in 7 different fights and he whisked no less than 5 times across all runs. On multiple occasions when asked to sneak he responded with, “Drevloc isn’t sneaking either” instead of just typing sneak himself. If that wasn’t enough, he also fled 4 times and returned with iceshield, instead of sanctuary! In a majority of those cases he was followed back into the room by aggressive mobs that he had hit when fleeing.

When other members of the original run were interviewed, they were certain that Terita was mistaken. Ontalot, even proclaimed that, “Terita doesn’t know what he’s talking about, and wasn’t even on the run to begin with!. I wish that guy would worry about sancing himself instead of making stuff up about Antons.”

It’s difficult to say what really happened, but this journalist finds it unlikely that such an event could have occurred.
