FRIENDS

Players use the FRIENDS command to list their friends, which shows and
sets if they want to receive an alert when the friend logins and logs out,
if they want to be emailed when they login, and if they want to receive
their friend emails if they send any. It is also used to set who should
receive any custom email they want to send out as mentioned below.

If you login and a friend of yours has it set to be emailed when you do
you will be notified when you login. If you do not want someone to be able
to receive an email when you login do not make them friends. The same with
the ingame notification when you login.

Emails are limited to one per 12 hours so if you login and emails are sent
out to friends who want them upon login, they will not get another during
logins for 12 hours. We do not expect people to use this feature all the
time or even often, just on occasion when you really want to know when a
certain friend has logged in.

Players over level 30 can use the FRIENDS command to edit text and then
have the game email that text to their friends. They can easily toggle on
and off which friends are to receive each individual emailed text, from
all of them to some to even just one. The game will then email that text
to these players if these players have this friend set to ON for receiving
emails. The sender will be told how many were attempted.

The text will have a very short limit, probably around 200 characters.
There is a limit of one email per 24 hours and warnings about what is not
allowed that must be acknowledged each time. Players agree to a zero
tolerance policy and all of that and that Gods have the ability to
ban a player from emailing if they abuse any policies. Players are told
that not only can Gods see each email but they are also shown it in their
log flow the moment it is sent. Players emails are logged for all time in
case a God needs to look into the past after any complaints.

The purpose is to create an out of game link between players that remains
anonymous. No player knows the other players email address. A player may
like to run bloodstone with some player he or she knows in the game but
they do not want them to know their email address, yet it would still be
cool to be able to contact them outside the game. This does exactly that.

Maybe a friend has not logged in for a long time so you want to reach out.
Maybe you want to tell all of your friends that youre going to be away.

Some players that are not on often may email their friends when they plan
on being online for a while:

I will be online now for 3-4 hours until 5ish, looking to have some fun!

Doing day 2 at 6pm sharp

I have not been around lately but will be online tonight at 8!

Others may just email friends on occasion for things they like or just to
reach out:

It is Faecrab week so you know what I will be doing tonight when I login
around 9

Just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas

I will be offline for a few weeks, kill something big for me

This feature will help player retention as it gets players triggering
other players to login. It would help to form more deep and long-lasting
relationships, something Medievia already excels at sure but this reaching
out outside the game makes the friendship more real and less virtual.
Lastly it helps facilitate happenings and fun adventures for players of
varying time zones and schedules through some simple communication.
