Serpents 101

Serpents come in many shapes and colors. I'm not kidding they really do. You can break down a serpent into 5 separate parts which each affect the speed, damage, procs, and hit points.

The total hitpoints of a serpent is determined by its size in rooms long, times its strength, which is determined by its color; different body types also affect the serpent's hitpoints.

Colors:

  • Emerald takes 5 seconds to move 1 room - 400 HP Multiplier
  • Gold takes 3 seconds to move 1 room - 100 HP Multiplier
  • Ruby takes 2 seconds to move 1 room - 1000 HP Multiplier
  • Violet takes 1 second to move 1 room - 500 HP Multiplier

Size

  • Small: 1 to 6 rooms long
  • Large: 7 to 13 rooms long
  • Massive: 14 to 20 rooms long
  • Mammoth: 21 to 27 rooms long
  • Enormous: 28 to 34 rooms long
  • Gigantic: 35 to 41 rooms long
  • Humongous: 42 to 48 rooms long
  • Colossal: 50 rooms long
  • Epic: 100 rooms long

Body:

  • Eel: Eel body has less hitpoint and takes more damage
  • Serpent: Serpent body has extra speed and takes less damage
  • Whale: Whale body has extra hitpoint and moves slower

Head

  • Hammer head: Has extra ramming damage but does not enter room
  • Serpent head: Bites and has poison It can send players flying to different rooms
  • Eel head: Has biting attacks that can send players flying to different rooms
  • Sword head: Is backstab
  • Dragon head: Spreads fire everywhere and has extra ramming damage
  • Large serpents can have multiple heads which multiplies the effects.

Tail

  • Scorpion tails send clusters of poison darts (poison affect)
  • Serpent tails double the serpent speed if it is not a violet.
  • Dragon tails increase the serpents' hit points.
  • Fanned tails blow wind, knock players around, turns the ship.
  • Barbed tails send a blowing cloud of blinding poison at the ship (poison and blind affect).
  • Large serpents can have multiple tails which determine if they will split.

Taking all of these traits the game will mash them together however it pleases giving you a different experience for each serpent you get.

During this process you will also get what we call hybrid serpents. This is when two different colors combine. Hybrid serpents will never split and tend to be slower than their pure color counterparts.

Some examples of what you might see when chumming a serpent.

  • Colossal ruby triple eel headed whale with double barbed tails
  • Mammoth violet double hammer headed eel with a fanned tail
  • Gigantic emerald sword headed serpent with triple scorpion tails
  • Massive gold double serpent headed eel with double dragon tails
  • Epic ruby triple headed whale with double serpent tails

Gold and Fae

The gold and fae rewarded for killing serpents is determined by their size, hitpoints and color. An epic ruby colored whale serpent will give you millions of gold while a gold equivalent will reward you significantly less in the hundreds of thousands.

Serpent and Hero points

The amount of points you are awarded is determined in the same way with ruby being the most valuable and gold being the least.

Serpent damage

When a serpent rams you, the damage is determined by how fast the serpent is moving, not by its size. The color of the serpent determines its speed. A hammer headed serpent will do additional damage when ramming.
