Interview of Calabus - By Mirr

[TL-124 :: LV-31] [HERO] [PKS: 572] [Clan: 20] Calabus

Calabus has arrived.

Mirr: How would you describe your current Medievia playing experience?

Calabus: eq, tr, doing ct rooms, makes it worthwhile playing again. :)

Mirr: What was/is most fun, being a newbie (1-123) or being a Hero.

Calabus: hmmm i think being a hero, cuz i can concentrate on the eq and tr aspect more than as an xpr.

Calabus: eq and tr's don't get much xp.

Mirr: you never liked the exp aspect of the game?

Calabus: i did for quite a while.

Calabus: i just enjoy the hero aspect more.

Calabus: after a while you get bored of xp.

Mirr: What is your favorite aspect of Medievia?

Calabus: hmmm.

Calabus: conversations, making rl friends.

Calabus: people i wouldn't have met otherwise.

Mirr: What is your least favorite?

Calabus: everyone complaining about everything.

Calabus: instead of having fun playing something that is just a game.

Mirr: Whats your best idea for a change or addition to the game?

Calabus: hmmm, haven't thought much about that.

Calabus: they need to have more of a threat than simple loss of hero for cpking singles in my opinion.

Calabus: most peeps couldn't care less whether they were 124 or had the hero tag.

Calabus: lengthy freezes might change their mind.

Mirr: What Medievia zone do you think is the most fun?

Calabus: eq zone?

Mirr: any.

Calabus: hmmm my favorite is probably asnor.

Mirr: Why?

Calabus: good al eq, evil al eq, both al eq all in one zone and in decent enough quantities for people of both al's to eq there.

Calabus: cuz like ely has good eq.

Calabus: but it's all good al.

Mirr: What is your favorite clan and what do you think sets that clan apart from others?

Calabus: i would be a bit biased on that one, but i like my clan.

Calabus: everyone in the clan, including the heroes are extremely polite and helpful.

Mirr: You're talking about Lords of Discipline right?

Calabus nods his head.

Mirr: Do you think there are too many heroes on Medievia?

Calabus: too many heroes that don't know zones at all.

Calabus: people screaming through double xp days and never really learning zones.

Calabus: happened to me too.

Mirr: so you think the problem is lack of skilled heros?

Calabus: no

Calabus: i think part of it lies with the fact people don't get to go on eq runs.

Calabus: part has to do with the clan people are in, don't have the manpower to do eq runs.

Calabus: and part has to do with the fact that certain clans tend to control eq zones.

Calabus: if more people hero it's fine, it's just people need a broader understanding of the game.

Mirr: do you think that Medievia has become too spread out, as in a couple hero's per clan?

Calabus: nah i think what happens is heroes clump in specific clans then the rest are spread out.

Calabus: heroes go to specific clans for reasons such as eq power, overall power.

Calabus: others simply remain loyal to the clan they hero in and stay.

Mirr: do you think that something like the HP bonus caused that?

Calabus: actually i don't think hp bonus affects most people except the 60 hps.

Calabus: most people don't go to a clan just cuz of hp bonus.

Calabus: however the reason they have hp bonus, people do go to the clan for, the eqing, trading, etc.

Mirr: Do you think that players tend to rely too much on that one "leader" in a clan, and never learn zones for themselves?

Calabus: a lot do.

Calabus: that's why there are a lot that hero and don't know zones.

Mirr: Do you lead forms much?

Calabus: not a whole lot.

Calabus: well i am working on learning zones, but i was one of those people that didn't understand the eq aspect of the game for a long time.

Calabus: that and or i was in a clan that didn't do much of it for most of my career.

Mirr: Do you think of Medievia as a place to log on to and solo, or get together with friends?

Calabus: i prefer getting together with friends, that's why i started playing med,was for the conversation and friendship.

Mirr: Whats the most disappointing behaviour you've seen from a player on Medievia (no names please).

Calabus: hmmmm.

Calabus: someone cpking a person, ressing them, then cpking them again.

Calabus: although that was harshly dealt with, it was disappointing nonetheless.

Mirr: whats the best thing you've seen, and feel free to use a name.

Calabus: hmmm.

Calabus: Krystalis taking the time as a hero to educate newbie warriors and thieves on alternate bash and trip.

Mirr snickers softly.

Calabus: seriously.

Calabus: he taught a clan of newbies how to play in pk.

Mirr: Who do you think is more important to the game, newbies (1-123) or Heroes?

Calabus: hard to discount either of them.

Mirr: stop being a politician and answer the question! :)

Calabus: hard to answer hehe.

Calabus: ummm i'd say heroes are important to more of an extent as teachers of newbies,if they care at all.

Mirr: Whats you're favorite cd to listen to while playing?

Calabus: don't, computer in a room without a music setup.

Calabus: although it's a good idea with a portable now.

Calabus: but i don't have a favorite right now.

Mirr: Do you think there are zones on Medievia that have no purpose?

Calabus: most castles right now have no purpose,i understand at one time they did.

Calabus: also that zone the pyramid.

Calabus: i've never known of one person who actually xps there.

Calabus: too many zones that have better xp for the level.

Mirr: do you think that something like the pyramid could be easily tweaked, say with better exp or added eq, and become useful?

Calabus: yeah.

Calabus: i think if zones like pyramid had better xp,eq, then more people would do them.

Calabus: i think the problem is.

Calabus: that pyramid was designed as an xp zone for newbies and they tried to put eq in it.

Mirr: Do you think too much is abandoned in Medievia?

Calabus: abandoned?

Calabus: explain.

Calabus: not sure i get yer drift on that one.

Mirr: Think of Medievia as a giant painting, and here and there there are mistakes left uncorrected or unerased, thats what I mean. :)

Calabus: hmmm.

Calabus: i harken back to the problem with cpk.

Calabus: i understand it is part of the game, but at the same time i think they need stiffer penalties for breaking of the cpk rules.

Calabus: for instance there is a rule.

Calabus: that you are not gonna loot an item you are not gonna use.

Calabus: yet i see people looting wedding rings, which serve no realistic eq value in the game.

Mirr: hrm, Im not sure that answers my question, but ok.

Mirr: lets move on, lets get a little more positive.

Calabus: ok.

Mirr: what kind of compliments would you like to say to Vryce and the other gods about the game if you met them in person.

Calabus: i'd say all the gods have done a phenomenal job in putting together a game that can bring together this number of people at once.

Calabus: i'd say for the most part they've continued to make improvements designed for the players enjoyment as time has gone by.

Mirr: do you think the game is getting better?

Calabus: hmmmm.

Calabus: i would say the game has remained rather the same.

Calabus: that is primarily due to the fact that people expect a certain amount out of the mud and that amount has increased as time has gone by.

Calabus: i do think dragon lairs did heighten the fun of the game though.

Mirr: you mean size wise the game has grown, but strategy and challenge wise its the same?

Calabus: i mean that after a while people get tired of the current state and want more, like more zones and so forth, people want a challenge.

Calabus: however, overall the game is more enjoyable, there are quite a few more zones than when i started.

Mirr: any last words, anything you'd like to use this forum to say?

Mirr: any announcements or anything?

Calabus: hmm can't think of really much.

Mirr: thanks for doing the interview.

Calabus shakes your hand.

Calabus: np.
