Because I believe that the 43 minutes of class time we have each day is best spent communicating
in French, experiencing culture first-hand through video and music, and using the language meaningfully, the French 5
students complete most grammar and vocabulary practice activities using a variety of Internet activities. They also use the Internet to complete
tutorial quizzes and cultural research.
Online Workbook
The French 5 students use an online workbook housed at
Books.quia.com.
This workbook was purchased as an ancillary component to the Bravo! textbook used in French 5 Honors.
Here, the students are assigned and complete vocabulary and grammar exercises that correlate to curricular
material. They are able to complete the activities, receive instant feedback, correct their mistakes, and view their
overall grades on the activities all through this site. As an instructior, I can view all activities,
all students' answers, make comments, see overall grades, send individual or class emails, select which activities to assign,
modify point values, and much more. I can even create my own activities using the multitude of resources at Quia.com. It is a great site to use with students!
I have created a student account for this presentation so that viewers can log in and see first-hand how the
online workbook is set up. Follow the instructions below to log into the student account. So far this year we have
completed Chapters 1-3.
Log in with 'keystoneDK' as the username and password.
Click 'Open Book' to see the entire workbook.
Click 'My Results' to view the activities that are assigned and their due dates.
Bravo! Website
The French 5 textbook, Bravo!
has an accompanying website complete with cultural activies, tutorial quizzes, lab audio, and other resources for the students using that text.
Throughout the year the French 5 students have completed the tutorial quizzes and the cultural activities for each chapter.
Madame Krause's Website also has a variety of supplementary
vocabulary, grammar, and cultural activities to which the French 5 students have continual access. Students can complete
activities to brush up on verb tenses, research French links, and review material completed in previous years.
