Explanation of Project
As a culminating project for Chapter 3 and for the use of the textbook, the French 5 students
created videos, in French, on the theme of 'Roommates'.
The video consists of three scenes:
- Scene 1: On the phone with new roommate discussing physical descriptions, interests, family,
and what each person is going to bring to the dorm room.
- Scene 2: Moving day in which students greet each other, discuss where things will go in the room, and their daily routines.
- Scene 3: A conversation with another friend or family member about how they get along with their new roommates, problems that have arisen, and how they feel the year will go with the new roommate.

Implications for Learning
The French 5 students are...
- learning how to synthesize all the material from one chapter into one final project.
- participating in personalized and meaningful writing and speaking.
- writing and speaking for communication, not just memorized decontextualized dialogs.
- using the French they have learned throughout their school 'careers' in a real-world context.
- learning how to write, direct, edit, and create a complete video, all in French.
