The French Forum is a course unique to Wissahickon High School. It is a course
offered to the Academic level students who want to continue their study of
French but who
do not necessarily wish to continue with the higher-level vocabulary
and grammar presented in the Honors courses. It is primarily a culture
course that integrates French at a level
the students will grasp and comprehend. Their knowledge of French is enriched and expanded by the study of the places
and cultures around the world where French is spoken.
French Forum is a course that is taught in a two year
rotation. All the students enrolled in Forum have
completed French 2 Academic or Honors and the Forum course counts
as French 3 Academic and French 4 Academic. The students may enter the rotation at
any time as the coursework is non-sequential in nature.
The course overview and course of study for French Forum were created and written by me.
Because of the unique nature of the course, there is no textbook that is used
to teach the curriculum. All of the materials for this course have been
created solely by me and I have been the teacher since Forum's inception
six years ago. Throughout the creation of the course, I made a concerted effort to integrate technology
as much as possible. Although I have created the Forum course I would be remiss not to thank my colleagues at Wissahickon and beyond for their ideas and inspiration!
This year I am teaching the Year 2 rotation, but I will outline how technology is
integrated into the entire Forum curriculum. Please follow the links below to see how
I use technology with each semester of French Forum.
