SHIP_SECRETS

Many ships from afar will have secrets in the treasure chests found in the
hull. These secrets are ways to use corpse from fae creatures to do all
sorts of magic. The secrets do not last long and all require varying
combinations of corpse from sea creatures placed about in the right way in
the ship. These corpse are left when you kill mobfactions on a ship and
can be dragged SHIP DRAG down below to the hull for storage. The corpse
spoils fast so they must be taken below as soon as possible.

These ship spell secrets are like combinations to a lock that are changed.
If you try to do one of these spells and you do not use the perfect secret
formula, many bad things can happen. The whole ship may catch fire, become
flooded, take critical damage, have dozens of mobfactions crawl onto the
deck, have a dozen aggressive serpents attack it, just sink outright, or
nothing bad may happen at all. When you know the secret, you know exactly
at what time it no longer applies.

The secret is the combination of corpses needed, knowing the khrait words
to use to call the spell, when the secret combination expires, and where
to stand. The words to call each spell never changes. What changes is the
corpse combination.

The note you take from the enemy treasure chest is written in Khraitese.
You can know the translation yourself from memory, or you can translate
the note yourself.

Only a ship captain can cast a secret ship spell.

To translate the note:
Be in a room with JUST ONE kraken arm, hold the note, and say 'vas smurt'.
This never changes. How to translate a note never changes.

Here is an example note in Khraitese:

To cast a ship secret spell THE CAPTAIN must stand in a room with 2
seagriffin corpses exactly. The room can have any other types of corpse.
The room to the west must have exactly 4 sea termite corpses, and or any
other types. The captain then just says the words 'vas vasool zeetar',
which is translated to 'call summon beast'.

If successful the spell will work, the corpses needed will be sacrificed
and are gone. If the corpse amount and type were not set up right, or the
captain was not standing in the right place, bad things happen and some of
the corpses will be gone.

All ship secrets work this way. You do not need the note to cast the
spell, the note is just explaining the secret to you. Almost all players
will cut and paste that information to some personal area. It is simply
the knowledge that is important.

Note the note does not survive restarts, or logging out and back in. When
you get a new note you need to translate it asap if you do not know the
translation. The secret must be saved personally by the captain, usually
via cut and paste from his mud client.

The curious thing becomes, will towns share secrets? Will some secrets be
known to all, a whole town, a clan, just a few people, one captain?

When players see someone take a Khrait ship, they will know that a secret
has been aquired by the captain. The secret is just a piece of paper, that
once translated, read, and copied by the captain, will usually be
destroyed. Players may know who knows what, or they may not know who knows
anything. The one thing everyone will know for sure is that the Captains
that take the most ships from afar will know the most!


The difficulty of the ship spell determines how many combinations of the
lock there may be, from 2 to 9 or so. It also determines how long the
secret lasts. Easier spells last longer than harder spells. Note that when
you get the spell has no bearing on its expiration date. If you just got
an easy secret that JUST reset, it will last a long time, you may get an
easy secret that is just about to reset.

Here are some of the secrets you may find:

CreateFog

Difficulty: Medium
Fog is created in the nearby area representing around 300X300 rooms. The
fog starts and grows thicker, once reaching max density it will slowly
start to decrease.

DispelFog
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Difficulty: Medium
The fog in the nearby area is dispelled; it dissipates quickly.

SummonBeast
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Difficulty: Medium
This spell summons a random mobfaction. This is usually done to try to get
a specific corpse needed. This spell does not work instantly. It takes a
minute or two before a new mobfaction appears. Note that this spell will
do nothing if a ship is docked, grappled, or recently attacked another
ship.

SummonSerpent

Difficulty: Hard
This spell attempts to summon a colossal serpent to your ship.

DispelStorm
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Difficulty: Easy
Storms in the area are dispelled. Note that this will not affect storms
from afar.

CreateMagicStorm
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Difficulty: Easy
A magic storm is created over the ship. This is good when you need to
regenerate stats faster.

DispelSerpent
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Difficulty: Medium
All serpents in the world that consider your ship the enemy will consider
your ship friendly. Note that this normally does not work for babies.

RepairShip
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Difficulty: Hard
The whole ship is perfectly repaired. Note that this does not affect
flooding or fires.

DouseShip
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Difficulty: Easy
The ship fires are doused all over the ship.

SummonSeadragon
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Difficulty: Easy
A free seadragon will come, by-passing the towns time limits.

SummonWind
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Difficulty: Easy
A strong wind is summoned in the general direction your ship is heading
towards. Wind is very unpredictable, once cast the wind will do what it
normally would do, which is change.

CreateRainStorm
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Difficulty: Easy
A rain storm is created over the ship. This is good for ship fires and
other situations during adventures.

CreateFireStorm
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Difficulty: Easy
A fire storm is created over the area.

SlowSerpents
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Difficulty: Hard
This spell slows down all serpents within 100 distance by 1/2 for 20
minutes.

SpeedUpShip
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Difficulty: Hard
This spell doubles the ship speed for 10 minutes.

DoubleExperience
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Difficulty: Impossible
This spell doubles experience gained for the whole game for a day.
