Five Tips for Returning Players
by Ulic

One of the great things about Medievia is its longevity. When a game has been around this long, you are bound to have players leave and return, and if you've recently returned, there are quite a number of new features that you may not be aware of. Here are tips about five new (or changed) items in the game to help you get started in your return! For more detailed information on most of these items, be sure to use the in-game help files.

Strive for Eggcellence:

Everyone knows that Eggs are essential for multiclassing, extending the life of your favorite object, or even grabbing some extra practices if you don't happen to have a dragon crystal. What you may not know is that eggs can now be used to purchase Tokens of Eggcellence. You can trade your hard earned and unfilled eggs for bright shiny Tokens from Darius, who can be found just southwest of Marious in Medievia castle. For every 20 eggs, you may purchase a copper Token of Eggcellence which can be used to buy iron Tokens of Eggsuberance and so on.

Egg Tokens can be used to purchase everything from consumable items, to reclass coins, to useful equipment in several new shops. And speaking of new shops...

Shop 'til you drop:

Medievia has added several new shops! While you can still buy great items from the Elven Merchant or the Caravan, there are great new items in the Market at Vanlarra and the shop right outside Elnissa. The Vanlarra market is the place to go if you're looking to spend some of those hard earned Tokens of Eggcellence.

Play Ball (with the Fae Ball):

Sometimes you just need a change of pace from running equipment, trading or sailing the oceans of Medievia. If that's the case, you may want to find the Fae Ball. The Fae Ball is a great way to make some gold, earn a few quest points and even collect some Fae for your Fae Orb (more on those Fae Orbs in the next section). Just remember, as long as you hold onto the Fae Ball, you can be NPKed by anyone, and you won't earn your rewards until someone manages to kill you.

To find the Fae Ball, just use the faeball command to see where the ball is, and who is carrying it. Then all you need to do is kill them and take the Fae Ball for yourself!

Fae Orbs for fun:

If you've visited Marious in Medievia castle lately, you may have noticed that he now sells Fae Orbs. These useful little containers are great for storing Fae that you may have gathered throughout your journeys. If you've managed to collect Fae, all you need to do is have a non-deteriorated Fae Orb in your inventory, and the Fae will transfer right into the orb.

The best part is, if you have enough Fae in your orb, and know the proper combination, you can use the Fae magic for some impressive feats such as creating or removing storms, or even granting you double experience for a limited time.

Focus your Energy:

Any mage worth their robes knows that Malediction is your go to spell of choice if you need to do a lot of damage fast. But if you're like me, you may have wondered why your Malediction has not been hitting your target.

That's because Malediction now requires a focus! Malediction foci are all component based and vary greatly in strength and difficulty to acquire. If you want to see more information about how to make the Malediction foci that is right for you (and your budget) be sure to check out post #6 on the World Object Managers board, one west in MedLink.

Hope this intro to all things new in Medievia helps, and remember-if you have the need more details, Medievia's Help files are always here for you.
